We are very proud to highlight our very own, Lindsay Walsh – designer of standing armed - which showcased at Eco-Fashion Week Vancouver just a few weeks ago. Check out her amazing designs here!
1.Tell us about yourself.
I’m from Vancouver, though I have travelled and lived all over the world. I love design and the arts. All types. I appreciate all the amazingly unique things people are capable of creating. My creative outlet is fashion. I love to make beautiful clothes, and I love to make people feel beautiful in their clothing. I am the Product Coordinator for lululemon lab and I have my own line, standing armed.
2.What is your role at the lab?
I am the Product Coordinator for the lab. The abbreviated description of my role is that I’m responsible for taking the ideas our designers create each season and turning them into a product for our guests to wear and love. It’s creative, it’s hands on and a lot of fun!
3.What fashion trend are you really loving these days? What are you over?
I’m not much for trends. I think it’s more important to know what works for you and suits your body. That said, I usually get really into a colour of a fabric each season. Right now it’s brocade. Can’t get enough of it. Not just in fashion, but home decor and all types of design.
4.What is the biggest risk you have taken?
I took a risk on love. It hurt me, but made me stronger.
5.What is your biggest accomplishment to date?
Finishing my fourth season of my line, standing armed.
6.What is your next BHAG (big hairy audacious goal)?
To show standing armed at Toronto Fashion Week.
7. What is your (current) favourite spot in Vancouver? Why?
49th Parallel on Main St. Cozy with a fireplace for those rainy days.
8.What does Vancouver need more of?
Taxis. Seriously, in Toronto or NY you just step out the door and there are 5 waiting for you. Here, it’s always a struggle.
9.What video clip inspires you/gives you goose bumps?
Prada did a video for their FW12 campaign where models act out a game of chess being played. Very well done.
10.What local musician/artist/designer are you intrigued by?
Music, I love the Boom Booms. Great local guys who love what they do and they are using their success to create some really cool new projects.
Artists, I always love Zoe Pawlak. I basically want to own every piece she paints. I may have to move into a museum one day.
Designers, I featured a local jewellery designer made Bianca Barr in my SS13 show. Gorgeous pieces.
