11.21.2012 – knitting workshop

At the lab, we are so excited to have the ladies from Muttonhead teach us how to knit!

“This workshop will be hosted by cousins Paige Cowan and Joanie Rutledge. Paige is the Brand Manager at Muttonhead, a unisex sportswear brand designed and manufactured in Toronto. Muttonhead focuses on ‘slow design’, a countermovement to ‘fast fashion’. We design durable clothing, made from sustainable fabrics, that will outlast trends. Muttonhead seeks out other like-minded designers by creating seasonal collaborations and by bringing together local designers together various our pop up shops across the country. Joanie is a certified Pilates, Callanetics and TRX instructor at Kondi Callanetics (a new studio located just off South Granville and West 8th). Joanie’s goal is to become an active member in Vancouvers’ athletic community. She plans to do so by leading by example, and educating friends and clients alike in the many benefits of healthy living and exercise. Both Paige and Joanie learned to knit from their mothers, who in turn were taught by their mothers. Knitting, sewing, quilting and other handicrafts have long been a tradition in our family. We are excited to share some of these skills with all of you.”
